The Panasonic ERJ-2GE0R00X is a 0 Ohm thick film chip resistor in an 0402 (1005 metric) case - a zero-ohm jumper used as a solderable link rather than as a resistance element. It is rated for 100 mW dissipation and 50V, carries AEC-Q200 automotive qualification, and is specified across a wide -55C to 155C operating range. The chip measures 1mm by 500um with a 350um profile, uses tin termination plating, is lead-free and RoHS compliant, and is supplied in tape and reel. Note the record carries a 5% tolerance and a 600 ppm/C temperature coefficient, neither of which is meaningful for a zero-ohm link, and China RoHS is marked Non-Compliant while RoHS is marked Compliant; that pair should be reconciled.
Zero-ohm jumpers are placed to cross one trace over another on a dense or single-layer board without spending a via, to provide build-time configuration options where fitting or omitting the part selects an address, a mode or a product variant, to isolate a section of circuitry for debug and in-line current measurement, and to tie a ground or supply plane together at one controlled point. Because a 0402 jumper is placed by the same pick-and-place pass as every other passive, it costs nothing extra in assembly compared with a wire link or a board revision. AEC-Q200 qualification is what allows this one into automotive ECUs, where an unqualified passive would be rejected at the design review. Hardware and test engineers depend on them for variant management and as designed-in rework points.
Fusion’s in-house quality hubs and Prosemi testing facility are fully certified to meet critical industry standards for electronic component inspection and testing.
