The AT24C256C-SSHL-T is a 256kb serial EEPROM from Microchip organized as 32K x 8 and housed in an 8-pin SOIC package. It communicates over a 2-wire I2C interface at up to 1M Hz and operates from a 1.7V to 5.5V supply, drawing a nominal 3mA. The AT24C256C-SSHL-T has a 550ns access time, is rated for -40°C to 85°C operation, and is lead free and RoHS compliant.
Serial EEPROM is byte-alterable non-volatile memory used to hold configuration data, calibration constants, serial numbers, board identification and small parameter tables that must survive power cycles. The 2-wire I2C interface needs only two signal pins, so parts like this attach to a microcontroller with minimal routing and can share the bus with sensors and other peripherals. The wide 1.7V to 5.5V supply range lets the same device serve 1.8V, 3.3V and 5V systems. It is commonly designed in by embedded, automotive and industrial engineers who need small persistent storage alongside a host processor.
Fusion’s in-house quality hubs and Prosemi testing facility are fully certified to meet critical industry standards for electronic component inspection and testing.
