The DRV8428RTER is a Texas Instruments bipolar stepper motor driver with integrated current sensing and microstepping, supplied in a 16-pin package measuring 3 mm x 3 mm. A stepper driver of this type contains the H-bridge power stage, the current-regulation loop and the step sequencer, so the host only issues step and direction signals rather than commutating the motor in software. Integrated current sensing removes the external sense resistors that discrete implementations require, and microstepping subdivides each full step to smooth motion and reduce audible noise. The DRV8428RTER is listed in active production at Texas Instruments.
Compact stepper drivers are designed into positioning mechanisms where space and part count matter: 3D printers, office and label printers, scanners, camera and lens actuators, textile and labelling machinery, laboratory pumps and valves, robotics joints, and HVAC damper and valve control. Microstepping is the reason designers choose an integrated driver over a discrete bridge, because it delivers quiet, low-vibration motion without a complex control loop in firmware. The 3 mm x 3 mm footprint lets several axes share a small controller board. Motion-control and appliance designers are the typical buyers; note that only packaging and lifecycle attributes are recorded here, so confirm voltage, current and microstep resolution against the Texas Instruments datasheet.
Fusion’s in-house quality hubs and Prosemi testing facility are fully certified to meet critical industry standards for electronic component inspection and testing.
