The Texas Instruments TCA9555RTWR is a 16-bit I2C/SMBus I/O expander in a 24-pin WQFN package. It runs at up to 400 k Hz on supplies up to 5.5 V and adds general-purpose input/output pins to a host controller over two wires. The TCA9555RTWR operates over a -40 C to 85 C range.
I/O expanders add extra input/output pins to microcontroller-based designs over a two-wire I2C bus, driving LEDs, reading switches, and controlling peripherals in servers, industrial equipment, and consumer devices.
