The Texas Instruments ISOW1412DFMR is a reinforced isolated RS-485/RS-422 transceiver with an integrated isolated power supply, so no external isolated DC-DC converter is required. It provides one driver and one receiver at data rates up to 500kbps in a 20-pin SOIC package. The ISOW1412DFMR is specified for a -40°C to 125°C operating range and is supplied surface-mount on tape and reel.
Isolated RS-485 and RS-422 transceivers are used on multi-drop industrial buses where nodes sit at different ground potentials or must survive transients on long cable runs. Integrating the isolated power supply removes the transformer and DC-DC stage that such designs normally need, reducing board area and component count.
