The Texas Instruments TPD4E001DBVR is a quad-channel ESD protection diode array for USB 2.0 and similar low-voltage interfaces, in a 6-pin SOT-23 package. An integrated array protects four lines from one component, which saves board area and keeps the protection close to the connector where it is most effective. The TPD4E001DBVR measures 2.9mm by 1.6mm at 1.2mm thick, is specified from -40°C to 85°C and is in active production. It is lead-free, RoHS compliant, free of REACH SVHC substances and supplied on tape and reel in 3000-piece quantities.
Four-channel arrays are placed at connectors where several lines leave the board together: USB data and power pins, headset and audio jacks, card slots, and general-purpose I/O headers that a user can touch. Protecting all four lines from one package keeps trace stubs short, which matters because a long route to the suppressor undermines the protection.
