The Xilinx XCF01SVOG20C is a Platform Flash configuration PROM holding 1Mb (128 kB) of flash, used to store an FPGA configuration bitstream and load it into the FPGA at power-up. It runs from a 3V to 3.6V supply at 3.3V nominal, supports serial and parallel interfaces at up to 50 MHz, and is supplied in a 20-pin TSSOP measuring 6.5mm by 4.39mm, rated -40C to 85C in tubes of 74. Three record problems need attention: the part is filed under 'Field Programmable Gate Arrays' when it is a flash configuration memory and not an FPGA; the product title is a concatenation of unrelated attribute values - a wildcard part number, a plating type, an ECCN, packaging and a package dimension - rather than a product name; and a 'RAM Size' of 1Mb duplicates the flash density into a field this device does not have. The part is also marked Obsolete with REACH SVHC status Unknown.

Configuration PROMs exist because an SRAM-based FPGA loses its logic configuration at power-off and has to reload a bitstream every time power is applied. A dedicated flash PROM sitting alongside the FPGA is the simplest way to do that, with no processor or boot software in the path, which is why it became standard on FPGA boards that must be functional within milliseconds of power-up. They appear in industrial controllers, communications line cards, test instruments, and medical and defence equipment - essentially any FPGA design built before serial flash and soft configuration controllers became the default approach. Because this device is marked Obsolete, buyers should treat demand as a last-time buy against installed designs: an FPGA board without its configuration PROM will not boot at all, so these are commonly held as service spares.

Fusion’s in-house quality hubs and Prosemi testing facility are fully certified to meet critical industry standards for electronic component inspection and testing.
