The Texas Instruments ISO1541DR is a two-channel digital isolator for I2C, providing a bidirectional data channel and a unidirectional clock channel across a galvanic barrier. Digital isolators pass logic signals without a DC path, so the two sides can sit at different ground potentials and transient events on one side do not propagate to the other. The ISO1541DR is rated for a 560V working voltage and 2.5k Vrms isolation, supports data rates to 1Mbps, and runs from a 3V to 5.5V supply on each side at about 3.3mA. It does not include isolated power, so each side needs its own supply. The part ships in an 8-pin SOIC on tape and reel.
I2C isolators are placed wherever a low-speed control bus has to cross a safety or ground-domain boundary: between a controller and high-side battery monitors, between a host processor and sensors on a floating or high-voltage node, and across the barrier in medical and instrumentation front ends. Because I2C data is open-drain and bidirectional, it cannot use a plain unidirectional isolator, which is why a dedicated part like the ISO1541DR exists. Typical designs include battery management systems, solar inverters and motor drives, industrial process I/O modules, power supplies with digital telemetry, and patient-connected medical equipment. The -40°C to 125°C rating covers automotive and industrial ambient conditions.
Fusion’s in-house quality hubs and Prosemi testing facility are fully certified to meet critical industry standards for electronic component inspection and testing.
