The ISO1176TDWR is a Texas Instruments isolated half-duplex RS-485/RS-422 transceiver with an integrated transformer driver, supplied in a 16-pin SOIC package on tape and reel. It combines one driver and one receiver at data rates to 40Mbps, with galvanic isolation between the logic and bus sides. The integrated transformer driver lets the bus side be powered from an isolated supply built around the device. The ISO1176TDWR is rated for -40°C to 85°C.

Isolation on an RS-485 node breaks the ground loop between devices that sit on different power systems, protecting the local controller from surges and large ground potential differences across a long cable run.
