The Texas Instruments ISO1044BDR is a single galvanically isolated CAN FD transceiver in an 8-pin SOIC package. Because it is isolated, the logic side and the bus side take separate supplies: our attribute record lists supply minimums of 1.71V, 2.25V and 4.5V across those domains, with maximums of 1.89V and 5.5V. The ISO1044BDR is supplied on tape and reel and is specified from -40°C to 125°C.
A CAN transceiver converts a controller's single-ended transmit and receive logic into the differential signalling the CAN bus itself uses, and CAN FD extends the classic protocol with a faster data phase and longer payloads. Adding galvanic isolation breaks the ground connection between the bus and the local circuitry, which stops ground-loop currents and protects the controller when nodes sit at different ground potentials or when high-voltage switching happens nearby. The ISO1044BDR is used in industrial automation networks, motor drives and inverters, solar and battery-storage systems, building automation, and electric-vehicle charging equipment. Typical buyers are industrial automation and power-electronics OEMs.
