The Texas Instruments SN6501DBVR is a DC-DC switching controller in a 5-pin SOT-23 package, supplied on tape and reel. It operates from a 3 V to 5.5 V input and supports an adjustable single output up to 11 V, delivering up to 350 mA maximum output current while switching at 620 k Hz. Operating supply current is 300 uA and maximum power dissipation is 250 mW in a 2.9 mm x 1.6 mm x 1.45 mm body. SN6501DBVR is a production-status, lead-free, RoHS-compliant device rated -40 C to +125 C with a 170 C maximum junction temperature.
A switching DC-DC controller converts one supply rail to another by chopping the input at high frequency and filtering the result, which is far more efficient than dissipating the difference as heat in a Linear Regulator. Running at 620 k Hz from a 3 V or 5 V rail and supporting an output above the input, the SN6501DBVR is used to generate an auxiliary bias rail for gate drivers, sensor front ends, transceivers and instrumentation circuits that need more voltage than the logic supply provides. The SOT-23 footprint and low operating current suit dense boards where the auxiliary rail is a small part of the power budget. Buyers are typically industrial, communications and instrumentation hardware designers building bias supplies alongside a main power stage.
Fusion’s in-house quality hubs and Prosemi testing facility are fully certified to meet critical industry standards for electronic component inspection and testing.
