The Texas Instruments SN74LVC2244APWR is a non-inverting buffer and line driver providing 8 channels arranged as two independent 4-bit elements, in a 20-pin TSSOP package measuring 6.5 mm x 4.4 mm. It operates from a 1.65 V to 3.6 V supply with a 5.5 ns propagation delay and 8.1 ns turn-on delay, sourcing and sinking 12 mA per output. Quiescent current is 10 uA and the device is specified from -40 C to 85 C, RoHS compliant and lead free. Splitting eight buffers into two 4-bit banks with separate output enables lets a designer gate two groups of signals independently from one package.

Octal buffers and line drivers are used to restore drive strength on address, data and control buses, isolate and fan out clock and strobe signals, buffer signals heading off-board into connectors and cables, and provide three-state bus isolation between subsystems that share a bus. The 1.65 V to 3.6 V range covers 1.8 V, 2.5 V and 3.3 V logic families, and the low-voltage CMOS process keeps the 5.5 ns propagation delay usable in synchronous designs. The two-bank arrangement is common in memory and FPGA interface glue where two nibble-wide groups need separate enables.
