The Texas Instruments TCA9548ARGER is an I2C bus switch that operates from a 1.65V to 5.5V supply and draws no more than 80uA. Bus switches of this type let a controller connect to one of several downstream I2C segments, which resolves address conflicts between identical peripherals and allows segments running at different voltages to coexist. The TCA9548ARGER presents a 70 ohm channel resistance with a 1ns propagation delay, and is supplied in a 24-pin VQFN package measuring 4mm by 4mm with a 1mm height on tape and reel.
I2C switches are used when a board carries several peripherals that share a fixed I2C address - temperature sensors, EEPROMs, power monitors or optical modules - and the host must reach each one individually. They also bridge between segments at different supply voltages, which the 1.65V to 5.5V range supports directly. Server and networking hardware designers, industrial instrumentation engineers and embedded developers expanding a crowded I2C bus are the primary users of parts in this class.
Fusion’s in-house quality hubs and Prosemi testing facility are fully certified to meet critical industry standards for electronic component inspection and testing.
