The LTC4121IUD#TRPBF from Analog Devices is a synchronous step-down battery charger delivering up to 400mA of charge current, supplied in a 16-pin QFN package. It accepts an input from 4.4V to 40V and supports battery pack voltages up to 18V. The LTC4121IUD#TRPBF draws a nominal 3.5mA, has an 800µm package height, and operates from -40°C to 125°C with a maximum junction temperature of 125°C.
A synchronous step-down charger converts a higher input voltage down to the battery voltage through a switching stage, so far less energy is wasted as heat than in a linear charger handling the same current. The wide 4.4V to 40V input range of the LTC4121IUD#TRPBF lets it run directly from solar panels, unregulated wall adapters, automotive rails, and industrial 24V supplies without a pre-regulator. It is used in remote and outdoor sensor nodes, energy-harvesting systems, portable instruments, and battery-backed industrial equipment. Its 125°C rating suits sealed enclosures and equipment deployed in high ambient temperatures.
Fusion’s in-house quality hubs and Prosemi testing facility are fully certified to meet critical industry standards for electronic component inspection and testing.
