The Texas Instruments LM5157QRTERQ1 is an automotive-qualified wide-input switching converter from the LM5157-Q1 series, supporting boost, flyback and SEPIC topologies. It is listed as a 6A, 50V converter switching at up to 2.2 megahertz with dual random spread spectrum for EMI reduction. The LM5157QRTERQ1 is supplied in a 16-pin WQFN package measuring 3mm by 3mm and 800µm high, rated -40°C to 150°C, at MSL 2 on tape and reel in quantities of 3000.
A converter that can be configured as boost, flyback or SEPIC gives designers one part for stepping a variable input up, down, or across an isolation barrier, which is valuable when a battery or automotive rail swings widely. Applications include automotive body electronics, infotainment and ADAS pre-boost stages, LED and display bias supplies, industrial 24V rails and isolated auxiliary supplies. Spread-spectrum modulation is chosen where the design must pass CISPR 25 or similar automotive EMI limits. The 150°C rating and Q1 automotive qualification make it a candidate for under-hood and other high-ambient locations.
