The Diodes Inc. SDM03U40-7 is a single surface-mount Schottky barrier rectifier rated for 40V maximum repetitive reverse voltage and 30 mA average rectified forward current. Forward voltage is 370 mV and junction capacitance is 2 pF, giving the low conduction loss and fast recovery characteristic of a metal-semiconductor junction rather than a silicon PN junction. It is housed in a 2-pin SOD-523 package measuring 1.3mm by 900um with a 650um profile, dissipates up to 150 mW, and is rated from -40C to 125C. The part is lead-free, RoHS compliant and supplied in tape and reel.
Small-signal Schottky Diodes such as the SDM03U40-7 are used for reverse-polarity and reverse-current blocking, signal rectification, freewheeling on low-current inductive loads, ORing of supply rails and clamping on high-speed lines. The 370 mV forward drop matters most in battery-powered and low-voltage designs where a standard silicon diode would waste too much headroom. The SOD-523 outline places it in handheld, wearable and module-level designs such as IoT sensor nodes, USB accessories and small power adapters where board area is the binding constraint. Buyers should note the 30 mA rating restricts it to signal-level rather than power rectification.
