The DK2A-12V is an electromechanical power relay from Panasonic with a DPST normally-open contact arrangement driven by a non-latching 12-volt DC coil. The coil presents 720 ohms, draws 16.6 milliamperes and consumes 200 milliwatts, while the gold and silver contacts are rated at 8 amperes and 250 volts AC or 125 volts DC with a 2-kilowatt switching capacity. The DK2A-12V operates in 10 milliseconds and releases in 8 milliseconds, with 30 milliohms of contact resistance and 1 gigaohm of insulation resistance. It is a through-hole PC pin part measuring 20mm by 15mm by 10mm, weighs 6 grams, is specified over -40°C to 65°C, and carries CSA, TUV, UL and VDE approvals.

An electromechanical relay uses a low-power coil to move a mechanical contact, giving complete galvanic separation between the control circuit and the switched load along with a true open-air break when de-energised. A double-pole normally-open arrangement such as this one breaks both conductors of a supply at once, which is what safety standards generally require for mains disconnect, and the 2-kilowatt switching capacity on the DK2A-12V places it in load-switching rather than signal-switching duty. Applications include HVAC and appliance control, building automation and lighting panels, industrial control and machine-safety circuits, power tools, pumps and heaters, and charging equipment. The CSA, TUV, UL and VDE approvals are usually the deciding factor for buyers, since they carry directly into the end product's own safety certification; typical purchasers are appliance and HVAC OEMs, control panel builders and their contract manufacturers.

Fusion’s in-house quality hubs and Prosemi testing facility are fully certified to meet critical industry standards for electronic component inspection and testing.
