The Broadcom HFBR-57E0APZ is a pluggable fibre optic transceiver module in the 20-pin SFP form factor, combining a transmitter and receiver in one package. It runs from a 3.3V supply and is rated for a -40°C to 85°C operating range. The HFBR-57E0APZ mounts through a panel cage rather than being soldered to the board, so the module can be replaced without rework.
SFP transceivers convert electrical serial signals to optical ones so equipment can drive fibre links between racks, buildings or plant areas. The -40°C to 85°C rating places this module in the extended or industrial temperature class, which is what factory floor, outdoor cabinet and transport equipment normally requires.
