The SMBJ22CA from Bourns is a bidirectional transient voltage suppressor diode with a 22V reverse standoff voltage and a 600W peak pulse power rating, supplied in a 2-pin SMB package. It has a minimum breakdown voltage of 24.4V, clamps at 35.5V, and withstands a maximum surge current of 100A. The SMBJ22CA has a reverse leakage current of 5µA maximum and operates from -55°C to 150°C.

A transient voltage suppressor sits across a line and stays high impedance until the voltage exceeds its breakdown point, then conducts hard to clamp the surge and protect downstream circuitry.
