The STMicroelectronics T405-600T is a logic-level TRIAC from the T405 series, rated 600V repetitive peak off-state voltage with a 4A RMS on-state current. A TRIAC conducts in both directions once triggered, which is what makes it suited to switching alternating current loads directly. The T405-600T has a 10mA holding current and comes in a through-hole flange-mount TO-220AB package with three pins. It is specified from -40°C to 125°C, is lead-free and RoHS compliant, and is free of REACH SVHC substances.
TRIACs switch mains-powered alternating current loads under low-power control: motor and fan speed control in appliances, lamp dimmers, heater and solenoid switching, static relays, and power control in white goods and HVAC equipment. A logic-level gate trigger current means a microcontroller pin or optocoupler can fire the device without an extra driver stage. The 600V rating covers 230V mains with margin, so European and Asian appliance designers are typical buyers, usually in through-hole assemblies alongside a heatsink.
