The Micron MT48LC16M16A2B4-6A:G is a 256Mb single data rate SDRAM component with a 16-bit data bus and a 15-bit address bus, supplied in a 54-ball VFBGA. Single data rate SDRAM transfers one word per clock rather than two, and it is the generation that preceded DDR - still in production because many memory controllers support nothing newer. The device runs from a 3V to 3.6V supply at 3.3V nominal drawing 100 mA, operates at up to 166 MHz with a 5.4 ns access time, and is a commercial-temperature part rated 0C to 70C. It is lead-free, RoHS compliant, in production and supplied in trays of 260.

SDR SDRAM survives in equipment built around processors, FPGAs and ASICs whose memory controllers were designed before DDR: industrial controllers and PLCs, telecom and networking line cards, printers and copiers, medical instruments, test equipment, and gaming and vending machines. Those products frequently stay in production for fifteen years or more, and moving to a newer memory generation would mean redesigning the board and requalifying the whole system, so the SDR part keeps being purchased instead. At 256Mb with a 16-bit bus the device provides frame buffers, packet buffers and working memory sized to exactly those designs. Buyers should treat availability and lifecycle exposure as the main concern on a memory generation this mature, rather than unit price.
