The STMicroelectronics TS881ICT is a single nanopower rail-to-rail comparator in a 5-pin SC-70 package, drawing just 500 nA of quiescent current. It operates from a 1.1V to 5.5V supply with 6 mV input offset voltage, 4.2 mV of built-in hysteresis, 10 pA input bias current, and 78 dB of both common-mode and power-supply rejection. Propagation delay is 16 us, which is the expected tradeoff for nanopower operation - the bias current that would make a comparator fast is precisely what has been removed to reach 500 nA. The device is specified from -40C to 125C with 205 C/W thermal resistance, is lead-free and RoHS compliant and ships 3000 per tape and reel; note the product title cites 0.9V operation against the recorded 1.1V minimum supply.

Nanopower comparators are the always-on watchdogs in battery-powered equipment: undervoltage and battery end-of-life detection, window comparators on sensor outputs, threshold detection from reed switches, photodiodes and thermistors, and level or zero-cross detection that has to run continuously without measurably shortening battery life. At 500 nA the comparator draws less current than the self-discharge of most coin cells, so it can be left enabled for the life of the product. The built-in 4.2 mV hysteresis removes the external positive-feedback network a plain comparator needs to stop it chattering on a slowly moving input, saving two resistors and a layout iteration. Typical users are designers of utility and water meters, alarm and security sensors, wearables, portable medical monitors and industrial IoT nodes.

Fusion’s in-house quality hubs and Prosemi testing facility are fully certified to meet critical industry standards for electronic component inspection and testing.
