The Panasonic PM-R45 is a photoelectric sensor from the PM-45 series with an NPN open collector output and a 6mm sensing distance. It operates from a 5V to 24V supply, draws 15mA of operating current, and delivers an 80µs response time. The chassis mount housing measures 13.4mm long by 17.2mm high and uses cable termination. PM-R45 is RoHS compliant, rated for -25°C to 55°C operation, and currently in production.
Ultra-compact photoelectric sensors like the PM-R45 are used for object detection, position sensing, and presence verification in tight mechanical spaces. Typical deployments include small parts handling, conveyor and indexing mechanisms, vending and office equipment, and assembly fixtures where a short 6mm sensing range is sufficient.
