The Sony IMX291LQR-C is a Type 1/2.8 colour CMOS image sensor with a 6.46mm diagonal and 1945 x 1097 effective pixels, giving 2.13MP of resolution. It uses a 2.9µm pixel pitch and a variable-speed shutter, and reads out at up to 120fps over an LVDS or MIPI interface clocked to a maximum of 74.24 megahertz. The IMX291LQR-C runs from supplies between 1.2V and 2.9V and is supplied in a 110-pin LGA package.

A Type 1/2.8 sensor at roughly 2MP is the classic full-HD security and machine-vision format: it matches the 1080p video standard almost exactly, so no binning or cropping is needed, and its comparatively large 2.9µm pixel gathers more light per pixel than a higher-resolution array of the same die area would. That combination, together with a 120fps ceiling, points the IMX291LQR-C at network and surveillance cameras, low-light and night-capable video, industrial inspection and machine vision, broadcast and streaming cameras, and drone and robotics payloads.
